If Your Down And Feeling Low

The Girl With Brittle Bones  http://prb.st/XGRrs2

http://www.jeffprobst.com/posts/episode/2866_The_Girl_With_Brittle_Bones/index.html,

All I have is the preview, but they should be posting the entire show in the next few days.

Today on the Jeff Probst show, Jeff talks with the amazing Dede Selivon, an inspiring 21-year-old woman who doesn't let her rare bone disorder stop her from living a happy, full life.  Dede has osteogenesis imperfecta, a condition that makes her bones extremely fragile.  She estimates she breaks a bone almost once a month, often times by doing things as common as sneezing or shaking someone's hand. She has had this condition since conception. The ultra sound showed a body with out legs or arms. It was because of bones that were already broken.  Dede shares the optimism that has helped her surpass milestones her doctors predicted were unreachable.  Then, Dede's boyfriend, Peter, joins the conversation, and gives her the surprise of her life when he gets down on one knee!  That's not the only surprise though:  Jeff presents Dede and Peter with some amazing life-changing gifts. They caught up with Dede and Peter after the show, and the happy couple shared what they were feeling. One thing's certain: their love for one another is enormous, and it's real!

If Dede can face life joyfully, what kind of excuse can we come up with for our complaints.  This is a must see when they post the whole episode.  Right now they just have the preview and a follow up.

I am certainlly humbled by her bravery, the joy she shares about life.

I try not too, but today we were complaining about hurting from the falls we took last Friday when trying to clean up the ice and snow. We both still hurt, but I am doing FINE. LOL

I was lucky, I lost control of the snowblower and fell into the snow. Jane slipped on the ice while shoveling and hit her head on the sidewalk. That is how I got my brain injury… made her take it easy the whole weekend.

Both and and my wife have been whining after falling on the ice at work on Friday. I don’t think we will hear any more whining around here for a day or two.

Yes, we do whine about the small stuff and many times we take so much for granted. God bless her.

And an example for all of us. Her boyfriend told her when she learned to cook he would ask her to marry him. She apparently learned because he ask her on the show. Have to admit I teared up.

What an amazing story- I can’t imagine what that must be like having to be so careful of your bones all the time. She truly is a beautiful example of what each of us should aspire to in a positive attitude thanks for sharing this Toby!

When ask how many times she has broken a bone, she said her mom kept track until she was 13 and it was over a hundred at that point. She asks her mother to quit keeping track because it was depressing. (ya think?) She is now 21 and figures she breaks something about once a month. She is amazing that she faces life with such joy. A true hero.

Good Story! We need to thank our Parents and God for what we have! Some are very unlucky because of illnesses and diseases like this. Thanks for the story

When told that she would live no longer than 18, she said, Watch Me. LOL She is now 21 and in pretty good health. Is planning on having a baby. Talk about High Risk Pregnancy!! Doctor on the show said with care, she could do it. She is just amazing. You are so right, we need to be thankful for everything we have and always take the positive path.

When I look at her, and Nick Vujak (sp) all I can say is if they can lead a happy, successful life, then I have no excuse not to also be positive.
